Gold Silver Ledger LLC (“Gold Silver Ledger”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and the choices and rights you have. It applies to our website (the “Site”), the Gold Silver Ledger application (the “App”), and related services (collectively, the “Services”). This Privacy Policy is incorporated into, and should be read together with, our Terms of Service and Disclaimer.
A quick summary, in plain English:
- We collect the information you give us (like your email and the bullion holdings you log), plus standard usage information (like device and analytics data).
- We use it to run the Services, bill you, support you, keep the Services secure, and improve the product.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own independent purposes.
- We use a small number of trusted third-party services to run the product (listed by name below).
- You can access, correct, delete, or export your data at any time by emailing us at support@goldsilverledger.com.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information you provide to us
- Account information: your name, email address, password (stored only in hashed form), and any optional profile details you add.
- Portfolio and holdings data: the precious metals, coins, bars, rounds, and related items you log, including type, metal, weight, purity, quantity, acquisition date, acquisition price, cost basis, premium, source or dealer, storage location notes, and any photos, attachments, tags, or notes you attach.
- Transaction data: buy and sell records, adjustments, and related figures you enter to produce gain/loss and Tax Report output.
- Payment information: when you subscribe, our payment processor (Stripe) collects your payment card and billing details directly. We do not receive or store full card numbers; we receive a token, the card brand, the last four digits, the expiration date, billing country/postal code, and transaction metadata.
- Support communications: messages, screenshots, attachments, and other information you send us through our in-app or on-site Intercom chat widget, email, or other support channels.
- Survey or feedback responses and anything else you voluntarily submit.
1.2 Information collected automatically
- Device and connection data: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, device type and identifiers, language and locale settings, referring URL, and time-zone information.
- Usage and product analytics: pages and screens visited, features used, buttons clicked, time on page, session duration, navigation paths, and similar product-interaction data, collected through PostHog.
- Session replays and error/crash data: through PostHog, we record session replays and capture error, exception, and diagnostic logs to help us debug issues and improve the Services. We configure PostHog to mask inputs and sensitive fields by default; session replays are stored for a limited period and are accessible only to authorized personnel.
- Marketing-site analytics: on the Site, we use Google Analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns, acquisition channels, and page performance.
- Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 5.
1.3 Information from third parties
- Payment processor data from Stripe, as described above.
- Authentication providers, if you sign in via a social or single-sign-on provider we make available.
- Affiliate networks and dealers: if you click an affiliate link on our Site or App and complete a purchase, our affiliate network or the dealer may share aggregated or order-level conversion data with us (such as whether a referral resulted in a sale and the commission amount). We generally do not receive the underlying purchase details or your name and address from the dealer.
- Advertising platforms (future use): if and when we enable remarketing (for example, through the Meta/Facebook pixel), we may receive reporting data from those platforms about ad delivery and interactions. If this happens, we will update this Policy and, where required, present you with an appropriate consent mechanism before any such tracking takes effect on your browser.
1.4 Sensitive financial context
Although Gold Silver Ledger is not a financial institution and is not regulated under U.S. financial-privacy laws such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the holdings data you log is personal and financially sensitive in nature. We treat this information with the same level of care we apply to account credentials and take reasonable steps to protect it, as described in Section 7.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- provide, operate, and maintain the Services, including authenticating your account, displaying your portfolio, generating reports and exports, and serving spot price and market data;
- process subscription payments, manage free trials, send billing notifications, and prevent fraudulent or abusive payments;
- communicate with you about the Services, including sending transactional emails through Resend (such as account verifications, password resets, receipts, renewal notices, and service announcements);
- respond to your support requests and customer-service inquiries (including via Intercom);
- measure, analyze, debug, secure, and improve the Services using PostHog (in-app product analytics, session replay, error and log tracking) and Google Analytics (on the Site);
- send marketing or promotional messages where you have opted in or where such messages are otherwise permitted under applicable law, and always with an easy opt-out;
- protect the Services, our users, and third parties from fraud, abuse, security incidents, and illegal activity;
- comply with applicable law, legal process, and our legal obligations; and
- enforce our Terms of Service, Disclaimer, and other agreements.
Where required by applicable law (including the GDPR), we rely on the following legal bases for processing: performance of the contract with you (to deliver the Services you signed up for), our legitimate interests (to secure, improve, and market our product in a balanced way), your consent (for non-essential cookies, marketing emails where required, and optional features), and compliance with legal obligations (for tax, accounting, and legal requests).
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We also do not share your personal information with third parties for their own independent advertising or marketing purposes.
We share personal information only in the following categories:
- Service providers / subprocessors that help us operate the Services, acting under contract and only on our instructions. A current list is in Section 6.
- Payment processor (Stripe) as necessary to process subscription payments, issue refunds where applicable, and prevent fraud.
- Advertising and analytics platforms (Google Analytics today; Meta/Facebook pixel potentially in the future) for measurement, attribution, and — if and when enabled — remarketing. Where these platforms combine data with their own sources, their use of that data is governed by their own privacy policies.
- Affiliate partners — when you click an affiliate link, standard referral data (such as a click identifier) is passed to the partner so they can attribute any resulting sale. We do not otherwise transmit your account information to affiliate partners.
- Legal, safety, and compliance recipients — such as regulators, courts, and law enforcement — when we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to valid legal process, protect our rights or property, protect the safety of any person, or investigate fraud or security issues.
- Corporate transactions — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of the transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections. We will notify you if your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy as a result.
- With your direction or consent — for any other purpose disclosed to you and to which you consent.
4. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Services, meet the purposes described in this Policy, comply with our legal obligations (including tax and accounting obligations), resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. In particular:
- Active account data is retained while your account is open.
- Backup copies of data may persist in our backup systems for a limited period after deletion, consistent with standard backup and disaster-recovery cycles.
- Billing and transaction records are retained as required by applicable tax, accounting, and anti-fraud laws (typically up to seven years).
- Session replays and diagnostic logs are retained for a shorter operational period (typically no longer than 12 months) before deletion or anonymization.
- Support communications are retained for as long as reasonably needed to service your account and for a reasonable period thereafter.
When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required or permitted as described above.
5. Cookies and Similar Technologies
We and our service providers use cookies, local storage, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies to operate the Services, remember your preferences, understand how users interact with the Services, and measure the performance of our marketing. Categories include:
- Strictly necessary — required for authentication, security, and core functionality.
- Analytics and performance — PostHog (in-app) and Google Analytics (Site).
- Support — Intercom (chat widget, support session identification).
- Marketing and advertising — may include the Meta/Facebook pixel and similar remarketing technologies if and when enabled.
Where required by law (for example, under the UK and EU ePrivacy rules), we will display a cookie banner and will not set non-essential cookies until you consent. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings and, where available, opt out of specific analytics and advertising technologies through the providers’ own opt-out tools.
We aim to honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals and similar recognized opt-out mechanisms where required by applicable law.
6. Service Providers / Subprocessors
We use the following categories of service providers to operate the Services. Each provider acts only on our instructions and is bound by confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
| Provider | Purpose |
| Stripe | Subscription payments, billing, and fraud prevention |
| Resend | Transactional email (account, billing, service notices) |
| PostHog | Product analytics, session replay, error and log tracking (App) |
| Google Analytics | Marketing-site analytics (Site) |
| Intercom | Customer support chat and messaging |
| Cloud hosting and infrastructure providers | Hosting, storage, networking, and security |
| Meta Platforms (future) | Remarketing / conversion measurement, if and when enabled |
| Marketing email provider (to be selected) | Promotional and newsletter email, where you have opted in |
We may update this list from time to time as our tooling evolves.
7. Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. These include encryption of data in transit (TLS), encryption of passwords using modern one-way hashing, access controls, logging, and regular review of our security practices. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee the absolute security of your information. You are responsible for keeping your password and account credentials confidential and for notifying us promptly of any suspected unauthorized use of your account.
8. International Data Transfers
Gold Silver Ledger is based in the United States, and our service providers may be located in the United States and other countries. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand that your personal information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States and, where applicable, in other countries that may have data-protection laws different from those in your jurisdiction. Where required by applicable law, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers, including the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and the UK addendum, where applicable) with our service providers.
9. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of the following rights with respect to your personal information:
- Access: request confirmation of whether we process your personal information and obtain a copy of it.
- Correction: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Deletion: ask us to delete your personal information, subject to certain legal exceptions.
- Portability: request a copy of certain information in a portable, machine-readable format.
- Opt out of sale or sharing for targeted advertising: we do not sell personal information, and any “sharing” (as defined under California law) is limited to the analytics and remarketing contexts described above; you may opt out at any time.
- Limit use of sensitive personal information where applicable under state law.
- Withdraw consent where we rely on consent, at any time (without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing).
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
- Non-discrimination — we will not deny service, charge different prices, or provide a different level of quality because you exercised a privacy right.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@goldsilverledger.com from the email address associated with your account, or use any in-product data controls we may provide. We may need to verify your identity before responding. You may also designate an authorized agent to make a request on your behalf, subject to verification.
9.1 California residents (CCPA / CPRA)
In the preceding 12 months we have collected the following categories of personal information: identifiers (e.g., name, email, IP address); customer records (e.g., billing details collected by Stripe); commercial information (e.g., subscription and transaction history); internet or other electronic network activity information (e.g., usage and device data); geolocation data derived from IP address (approximate); and inferences drawn from the foregoing. We collect this information from the sources described in Section 1 and use it for the purposes described in Section 2. We disclose personal information for business purposes to the categories of recipients described in Section 3.
We do not sell personal information and do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted under the CCPA without additional notice and choice. You have the rights to know, delete, correct, opt out of sale or sharing, limit use of sensitive personal information, and to be free from retaliation for exercising these rights.
9.2 Other US states (including Texas, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and others)
If you are a resident of a U.S. state that has enacted a comprehensive consumer privacy law — including the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act (TDPSA), the Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (VCDPA), the Colorado Privacy Act (CPA), the Connecticut Data Privacy Act (CTDPA), the Utah Consumer Privacy Act (UCPA), and similar laws — you may have rights substantially similar to those described above, including the right to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to opt out of targeted advertising, sale, or certain kinds of profiling. You also have the right to appeal our denial of a privacy request; to appeal, reply to our response email or write to us at support@goldsilverledger.com within a reasonable period and we will reconsider the request.
9.3 EEA, UK, and Swiss residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, Gold Silver Ledger is the controller of your personal information. You have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right not to be subject to solely automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects (we do not currently make such decisions). You may withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. For questions or to exercise these rights, contact us at support@goldsilverledger.com.
We do not currently maintain an Article 27 representative in the EU or UK because we do not actively target data subjects in those regions. If this changes, we will update this Policy accordingly.
10. Children’s Privacy
The Services are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18, and we do not direct the Services to children. If you believe that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@goldsilverledger.com and we will take appropriate steps to delete such information.
11. Third-Party Sites and Services
The Services may contain links to third-party websites, products, and services (including bullion dealers, affiliate partners, and social-media platforms). This Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party properties. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any third party before providing personal information or engaging with their services.
12. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, legal requirements, or other factors. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates when it was most recently revised. If we make material changes, we will provide additional notice — such as by email to your account address or a prominent in-product notice — before those changes take effect. Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy.
